ORDER:

 

          The Government in the references 1st and 2nd read above, have issued Common Order for Admission into Engineering, Medical, Agricultural and other Professional Courses under Sports quota from the academic year 2005 – 2006.

 

2.                  In the reference 3rd read above, the Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh while disposing the W.P. No. s 19660 and 19860 of 2005 dated: 29th September, 2005, filed on the Government Order, for admission into Professional courses under Sports quota, have directed to undertake a thorough review of the entire matter and issue revised orders, if necessary carrying out requisite amendments well in advance, before commencement of the next academic year i.e., 2006-07.

 

3.                  Government have therefore, reviewed the Common Order issued in the references 1st and 2nd read above and accordingly order that the list of Sports & Games and priorities thereon enclosed as Annexure – I & II respectively to this order shall be followed for Admission of eligible sports persons under Sports quota through Common Entrance Tests into all Professional courses in the State by Admission Authorities concerned from the academic year 2006 – 2007 onwards.  However, in the course of admissions the following clauses shall be taken into consideration:

 

a)                 Preference shall be given to the performance and participation in individual disciplines over team disciplines within a priority.

 

b)                 Date of Birth shall be tallied proportionately to the category of age group vis-a-vis the concerned sport.  The date of birth certificate issued by the Board of Secondary Education/Similar Boards of Central/State Governments only shall be entertained as proof age.

 

c)                 Admission shall be given to the candidates on their current sports performance, which will be to a maximum of 3 years.

 

d)                 The Sports qualification acquired between the period from the 10th / Inter / Diploma / Degree Examinations as the case may be and the respective Common Entrance Test, shall also be taken into consideration for extending sports quota to the meritorious sportspersons subject to the maximum period mentioned at provision (c) above.

 

e)                 Representation in the approved Games and Sports after passing the qualifying at relevant Common Entrance Test shall not be considered.

 

f)                   In case of a tie between two or more candidates, for the sports quota reservation for the same seat, rank at “Common Entrance Test” will prevail.

 

g)                 No preference shall be given to the candidates having represented more than once in the same game or sport.

 

The priority will be decided based on the highest entitlement from among the priorities admissible to a particular candidate based on his/her representation in different games / sports; and

 

h)                 The decision of Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh is final and for scrutiny of claims by Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh, the candidates shall submit information as called for in the format prescribed by Sports Authority.

 

4.                  The Government hereby direct that the percentage of Sports quota admissions shall be as per the orders, in force, and as decided by the respective departments and universities from time to time.  They are requested to take further necessary action in the matter accordingly.
